Apply to Showcase at the ALHAMBRA MONKEY WEEK 2021 Music Festival
Alhambra Monkey Week opens today, Tuesday, July 13, the call to participate in its Showcase Circuit, intended only for bands with representation agencies (such as record labels, management & booking agencies, institutions, etc.). The deadline will end next Sunday, August 15 at 11:59 p.m.
A more crowded call every year: remember that last 2020 more than 1,000 registrations were received from 55 different countries. In addition to numerous artists from our country, the call attended proposals from Albania, Germany, Angola, Argentina, Armenia, Austria, Belgium, Belarus, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Croatia, USA, Slovakia, Slovenia, Estonia, Philippines, Finland, France, Ghana, Greece, Holland, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Luxembourg, North Macedonia, Morocco, Mexico, Norway, Panama, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, Uruguay and Venezuela.
After eleven years of existence Alhambra Monkey Week has become the perfect setting for Europe’s independent music scene to connect. Every autum the city of Seville becomes a stage to gauge the pulse of the music scene and get acquainted with up and coming talents. Names like Rosalía, Carolina Durante, Nathy Peluso, Ms Nina, Melenas, Derby Motoreta’s Burrito Cachimba, Los Estanques, Cariño, Cupido, Belako or The Parrots, are only a small simple of the new talents playing in Alhambra Monkey Week and Alhambra Monkey Weekend latest editions.
The Festival has strengthened its international character with every new edition and has become a key meeting point for music industry agents in Spain, Europe and the Latin American market
Alhambra Monkey Week is also a founding member of INES, Innovation Network of European Showcases, a European cooperation Project initiated by eight international showcase festivals and Gigmit. INES gathers now 20 European festivals and enables young talents to get equal European exposure and the chance to build their international careers by showcasing around Europe. INES also supports professionals to attend all those European showcase festivals out there, to discover bands, create personal networks and craft powerful synergies.
Alhambra Monkey Week is much more than a springboard for the new musical talents around Europe. For the last seven years it has established solid connections and collaborative projects with different partners in Latin America, such as Marvin Festival (CDMX) or La Roma Records (CO/MX). Artists like Texxcoco, Bronquio, Los Nastys, Joe Crepúsculo o Bifannah have had the opportunity to play across the pond in countries like México or Colombia.
Every november Alhambra Monkey Week becomes a parade of new musical talents coming from Europe, Latin America, and other parts of the world. Latests festival’s editions helped us to discover talents from Portugal, France, England, Austria, Bélgium, Denmark, Australia, Argentina, México, Chile, Colombia or USA. Alhambra Monkey Week has surely become the best setting to present new talents in Spain. New names like Quiero Club, The Bongo Club, Carmen Costa, Pascuala Ilabaca, The Kitsch, The Mauskovic Dance Band, Los Viejos, Tents, Las Yumbeñas, Bee Bee Sea, Verdor, Turbo Sonidero or Timid Kooky, among many others, have emerged as great discoveries for the Spanish audience and delegates from all over Europe and Latin American markets.
Now Alhambra Monkey Week opens the call to participate in its Showcases Circuit from today, July 13th, and until sunday August 15th. Alhambra Monkey Week Showcases Circuit will take place in November 19th and 20th, in Cartuja Center CITE, one of the most attractive stages in Seville. A selection of the more than 1.000 thousand bands that apply to the call will get to be part of this Showcase Circuit .
Alhambra Monkey Week has supported new talents and live music since 2009 and during this years the motto of the festival has been “Discover today the music of tomorrow”. After the obligatory but rewarding experience of last year’s online experience, this 2021 Alhambra Monkey Week will once again return to its usual objectives with a face-to-face edition.
