Sound Diplomacy

Azucena holds two MA’s from the University of Barcelona, one in Cultural Management and one in Cultural Production and Communication, for which she has written a thesis on the social impact of music in cities. She is currently a PhD Candidate in Communication and International Relations. She is a guest lecturer at Blanquerna Universitat Ramon Llull in Barcelona. She joined Sound Diplomacy in 2013, and has managed many of the company’s biggest projects, including country analysis and music strategies. As a Senior Project Manager and Head of Quality Assurance, she has worked on music city strategies for Vancouver, Huntsville (Alabama), New Orleans, Indianapolis and San Francisco, among others, as well as a two-year project to strengthen the Cuban music industry through UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization). She also led the delivery of an analysis of 10 Latin American music markets for CIMA, coordinating a team of researchers in every country.  She has worked across most of Sound Diplomacy’s projects over the past 7 years, which led her to set up the firm’s quality assurance division.
