CABIRIA

If we were to draw a parallel between Cabiria and some international band, we would undoubtedly cite Chromatics, as Eva Valero’s synth pop project is like something out of the extra scenes on the Blu-Ray edition of Nicolas Winding Refn’sDrive’. Here we find a particular fondness for the rubbery and synthetic sounds of 80s productions, in a nocturnal, nostalgic and bittersweet sense. If seeking a Spanish connection, Cabiria’s music would fit perfectly between the least superficial moments of La Casa Azul and the bubbly anti-hits of Linda Mirada. Songs like ‘Fantasma’, ‘Via Torino’ and ‘DISCO-CAFÉ’ have ended up catapulting this young synth alchemist to the top as one of the reinventors of pop for dance floors. #synth-pop
