Unidad y Armonía is the new musical project by Miguel Martín (Lori Meyers), another twist on the sunny and catchy pop of Everything But The Girl accommodating influences like La Buena Vida, Family, Vainica Doble and Soleá Morente (the latter collaborator with her sister Estrella in that kitschy little gem called Soy una nube). With a line-up listing Popi González (drums, vocals, backing vocals), Toni Jiménez (guitar and backing vocals), Julián Méndez (bass), Carlos Marques (keyboards) and Roberto Escudero (percussion), the musician from Granada launches his new group into a revision of the soaring, psychic pop of the 60s, introducing spasms of resounding contemporaneity, all with intricate instrumental developments halfway between lounge music, space rock and the compositions for a sidereal shindig by Alfonso Santisteban. The release of ‘Un Verano Invencible‘, their third LP this year, confirms Unidad y Armonía as one of the most exquisite groups on the national psychedelic scene. Had Britain’s Doves been born on Sacromonte, they would probably have composed wonderful tracks of the calibre of ‘El principio y el fin‘. #psychedelia
